Call to Confession Sylvia McCants
God, we come to You confessing that we have fallen short of Your glory. We live in a generation of unthankfulness, rich in things but poor in spirit. We have held back our time and even ourselves out of greed. We have held back love and compassion because of fear and pride. Oh, loving Father, You have overwhelmed us with such good gifts and we have kept them to ourselves. We have been so selfish in our thoughts and actions. Hear our confession. As You call us to a life of surrender and sacrifice. help us to let go, help us to trust and help us to serve. As we do, may we find increased joy, contentment, and freedom in You, Jesus, and may our lives be a light to the world around us.

SONGS & READINGS
Great is Thy Faithfulness (Hymn of Praise)
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with 10, 000 beside
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
I Surrender All (Verses 1 &2) (Congregational Hymn)
All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
“My Love is My Stronghold” (Musical Selection by Nwandi Lawson & Zarina Hutcherson)
O SON OF BEING! My love is My stronghold; he that entereth therein is safe and secure, and he that turneth away shall surely stray and perish.
We’ve Come This Far by Faith (Sermonic Selection)
We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by faith.
We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by faith.
Don’t be discouraged with troubles in your life.
He’ll bear your burdens
And move all discord and strife
Oh! We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by faith.
Just remember the good things He has done.
Things that seemed impossible.
Oh, praise Him for the vict’ries He has won.
He has won!
We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by faith.
Just the other day I heard a man say,
He didn’t believe in God word.
But I can truly say the Lord will make a way.
Because He, He’s never failed me yet.
We’ve come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in his holy word.
He’s never failed us yet.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by faith.
Oh, oh- oh- can’t turn around,
We’ve come this far by, this far by faith!

Lord Dismiss Us With Thy Blessing (Closing Hymn)
-
Lord, dismiss us with thy blessing;
Fill our hearts with joy and peace.
Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace.
Oh, refresh us, oh, refresh us,
Trav'ling thru this wilderness.
Oh, refresh us, oh, refresh us,
Trav'ling thru this wilderness. -
-
Thanks we give and adoration
For the gospel's joyful sound.
May the fruits of thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound.
Ever faithful, ever faithful
To the truth may we be found.
Ever faithful, ever faithful
To the truth may we be found.
Ancestor Acknowledgement
Indigenous Ancestors:
We offer this prayer in remembrance of the Stono, Kiawah, Sewee, and Etiwan people who lived along the Charleston Harbor from the time before time, and who raised their children and chanted holy verses before the first Spanish explorers or British colonists arrived.
O Great Spirit,
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me! I am small and weak, I need your
strength and wisdom
Let me Walk in Beauty, and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make My Hands respect the things you have
made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make Me Wise so that I may understand the
things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.
I Seek Strength, not to be greater than my
brother, but to fight against my greatest enemy—myself.
Make Me Ready to come to you with
clean hands and straight eyes.
So When Life Fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit may come to you without shame.
—Native American prayer
African Ancestors:
These words are offered in honor of the 200,000 or more African people who were brought in shackles through the port of Charleston. We pray for people who were abducted from their homes and kidnapped from their families in Angola and Senegal; the Gambia, Cameroon, and Ghana; Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Benin, those who became who we are.
Let us not run the world hastily,
Let us not grasp at the rope of wealth impatiently;
What should be treated with mature judgment,
Let us not treat in a fit of temper;
Whenever we arrive at a cool place,
Let us rest sufficiently well;
Let us give prolonged attention to the future,
And then let us give due regard to the consequence of things,
And that is on account of our sleeping
—Yoruba odu (recital)
